Pineapple skirt pattern

The pattern is finally done, drawn up and tested, yay!

Abbriviations:

st: stitch
sc: single crochet
dc: double crochet
sl st: slip stitch
j: join with sl st
t: turn
ch: chain

Start: ch 8

Lining: ch 3, 7 dc, t

Every row counts 2 sts towards the lining, continue to work back and forth until you have the correct size for you. I have tried to guess the different sizes, but you should crochet to the size that fits you and go from there. It should be a multiple of 8 rows (16 sts)

Sizes:
XS: 48 rows (96 sts on the round)
S: 56 rows (112 sts on the round)
M: 64 rows (128 sts on the round) <-- if you are around my size, this will fit you (around 95 cm around the behind)
L: 80 rows (160 sts on the round)
XL: 96 rows (192 sts on the round)

crochet the strip together with sc, then -
ch 1, 2 sc over each dc (the side of it) on the row, j

From here, work the diagram from 1 - 28. Afterwards repeat the diagram from row 11. You will get the nices edge on the work if you end around row 19 (when it has the length you want) because this is where there is the most sts on the round.

Here are the videos I made for this pattern, including the lining. I hope it helps you. Feel free to ask questions if you need any help. Next week I will be making a video about reading a diagram.

Repeat row 2 the same number of times, as you chained for the back of the head (see the diagram under “back of the head”)

Finish

To create a nice finish on the hat, yarn with fur or similar effects might be nice to look at. This can also be done in the sane yarn as you crochet the hat from, or in other yarn of similar weight.

Sizes
0 – 12 mths     ch 15
1 – 3 year         ch 15
3 – 12 years     ch 20
Adult                  ch 30
With the yarn for the finish: chain the given amount of stitches as shown above this. 1 sc in each st on the ch, Sl st the tie on to the hat.
Work 1 sc in each st half way around the hat. At the point:

Sizes
0 – 12 mths     decrease once in the middle
1 – 3 year         decrease once in the middle
3 – 12 years     decrease twice in the middle
Adult                  decrease three times before, in and after the middle

At the other end, ch the same amount of sts as for the first tie, 1 sc in each st on the ch, sl st to the hat, cut the yarn and sow in the ends.

Alternative

Alternatively, start by
Sizes
0 – 12 mths     ch 30
1 – 3 year         ch 40
3 – 12 years     ch 50
Adult                  ch 55

Crochet around once, just like Round 1 of the sides (1 sc in each st down the ch, 4 in the last) up one side and back down the backside of the ch, 4 sc in the last st. DO NOT turn.

Row 1:               1 sc in the next:

0 – 12 mths     14 sts
1 – 3 year         19 sts
3 – 12 years     24 sts
Adult                  26 sts
Decrease, 1 sc in the remaining sts on the ch, increase in the last. Ch 1, t

For finishing: follow the instructions under “finish”

Tips and Tricks for C2C | diagonalhækling | corner to corner

----------#|#--------->   ENGLISH <----------#|#---------

(danish below)
C2C can be challenging, so here are some tricks for making it a little easier:

1) Shuttles
Make shuttles with clips or similar. Roll up as much yarn as you think you will need. If you know you will need the same color multiple times, where you cant carry it over (like the red and white on the deadpool pillow, see pattern below)

2) Changing colors
To change colors, attach a shuttle and work with the new yarn. Think ahead: when will you need this color again? Think about whether or not it will make sense to carry the thread through the work, or if it will be better to attach a new shuttle at that time. In this pattern I had a lot of red and black shuttles, because these stand out a lot when they are carried through.

3) Pattern
Find a pattern online or use a grid to make one. I made this myself, by filling the grid while looking at a picture.

Every square is going to be a cluster of 4 dc's

To make it easier to follow the pattern and not make too many mistakes, I put on clips in different colors, so that I could work without constantly looking at the pattern.

If you need a grid, here is one : ) (Google will probably also get you plenty)

4) Turning the work
When you need to turn the work, and you have a lot of shuttles, put t he shuttles on the previous work, turn the work around and flip the shuttles out onto the table.

Here is the video, so if anything in this post was weird, I'm sure this will help : ) Happy new year!

----------#|#--------->   DANISH <----------#|#---------

4) At vende arbejdet

Diagonalhækling | corner to corner | c2c

ENGLISH

To start: ch 6, 3 dc in the three first sts on the ch (you now have a square of 4 dc's, see 1 on diagram)
next square: do the same, sl st in the ch 3-space on the first square (see 2 on diagram)
next: ch 3, 3 dc in the chain space. (see 3 on diagram)

Continue this way, until you have the size you want, then instead of doing a ch 6 and a new square at the corners, ch 3 and sl st in to the next space, decreasing the work. (see 7 on diagram)

DANSK

Hjemmelavede julegaver

Tekniske udfordringer og tunesisk hækling | technical dificulties and tunesian

(danish below)

I would love to say that everything I do is easy and fun, but this week was a little bit of a giant mess. I updated a program that I use for school, watched a youtube video and was drawing in photoshop when my screen started flichering. Green lines appeared, the sound from the video started screetching like a stuck record and then everything turned black. After about 10 seconds of just panicking and staring at the screen, the computer finally shut down. It took a while, but then it started up again. Something was very wrong - the resulotion on the screen was at the lowest setting, and everything was fuzzy. I am not a graphics snob, but even I found it unacceptable. Why is this any of your business? Well this weeks video is very effected by it. Its made in movie maker, the sound is terrible and it was done as quickly as possible. It turns out there was yarn sitting at the back of the screen, and down around my computer. This makes it very hot, and my poor graphics card didn't like the heat. Oh well... This will serve as a lesson to anyone who think cleaning is a waste of time and effort. Or just to remind myself to pick up balls of yarn... one of the two  : )

Anyway, its nice to know that I can do this in other programs, even if Movie Maker is pretty hard to tango with.

--------------------------------------------------------
